Sorry, we couldn’t resist the pun…

A disused public toilet block in Cheltenham town centre is up for grabs to anyone who’s feeling flush (OK, we’ll stop now). The 50 square metre building is a great opportunity for developers or businesses with the creative vision to bring something new and exciting to the centre of Cheltenham.

The block is in the Brewery Quarter of Cheltenham, on the corner of High Street and Ambrose Street and it’s on sale for at least £65,000, plus VAT. The building comes with a 15–year lease and – perhaps most importantly – there are no restrictions on its future use.

Cheltenham Borough Council is looking for innovative proposals

Cheltenham Borough Council (CBC) is looking for high-quality proposals and innovative design plans from applicants as it wants to see the building transformed into something exciting to bring new life into the area.

Proposals can, according to CBC, involve refurbishment of the building or a total redevelopment of the site it’s on.

“We’re keen to hear interesting proposals”

CBC’s cabinet member for finance and assets, Councillor Peter Jeffries, said that the council is offering an exciting opportunity to transform a disused and unattractive building into something niche that will bring positivity to the High Street.

The council is, added Cllr Jeffries, keen to hear from businesses and people with interesting and creative proposals for the building.

The block closed several years back and has somewhat fallen into disrepair, needing at least a full refurbishment to bring it back to life.

The building’s prominent location has big potential

CBC believes that the former toilet’s prominent location gives it the potential to become a landmark building that will not only improve the streetscape but will offer an advantage to the business or project which buys it.

If you need any more information on the building, contact Fiona Heubeck in CBC’s property and asset management team at fiona.heubeck@cheltenham.gov.uk.
