Ice skating fans can hit the white stuff again as Cheltenham’s popular pop-up skating rink is coming to town again. It’ll be at the Imperial gardens from November 29 until January 5 next year.

Last year the temporary rink drew 31,000 visitors and, according to Cheltenham Borough Council, brought £1.6 million into the town’s economy.

An indoor rink means rain doesn’t stop play

Right in the heart of Cheltenham, the covered rink keeps skaters safe from rain so they can enjoy their time on the ice to the full, making the Christmas period extra special.

Skating sessions last for an hour and prices start at £10.50 for children, with family tickets being £38 (£45 at peak times). If you’re planning to visit the rink a few times over the Christmas period you can buy a season ticket by calling 01242384805 or emailing enquiries@cheltenhamiceskating.uk.

The rink is open every day apart from Christmas Day and there’ll be extra late skating sessions (21.15 to 22.15) on Sunday December 22, Monday December 23 and Tuesday December 24.

The rink is fully accessible

The ice rink is fully accessible and welcomes skaters from the age of three upwards, as well as wheelchair users. There’ll also be special skating sessions for students, school parties, preschool children and more relaxed sensory sessions – see here for more details.

A royal treat for younger skaters

Little skaters will really enjoy the rink’s Ice Princess parties, with special appearances from the Snow Queen and her sister.

Lots to do for non skaters

If you’re not into skating, you can head to the rinkside cafes to grab a snack and a hot drink so you can watch the action on the ice.

If you can’t wait to bust some moves on the ice, head here to book your tickets and to find out more about special sessions, as well as times and prices.
